And while the topics are definitely tough to read about – this is about slavery – I found myself flying thorugh the pages of this book in no time at all. I expected a tough, slow read with heavy topics and a focus on character development. ![]() Having read only one of her books before (Wild Seed), I had certain expectations for this one.
